Recent Changes to Singapore’s Work Permit Rules

Removal of Employment Period Limit Employment period limit of 14-26 years based on skill level, sector, and country. No fixed term limit for Work Permit holders. July 1, 2025
Increase in Maximum Employment Age Maximum age limit of 60 years. Raised to 63 years, aligning with national retirement age. July 1, 2025
Higher Age Limit for New Applicants Non-Malaysians: below 50 years old. Malaysians: below 58 years old. All new Work Permit applicants must be below 61 years old, regardless of nationality. July 1, 2025
Expansion of Source Countries Limited to existing NTS countries. Bhutan, Cambodia, and Laos added to the NTS list. June 1, 2025
Changes to S Pass Qualifying Salary Minimum qualifying salary: SGD 3,150. Increased to SGD 3,300, with higher thresholds for experienced workers. September 1, 2025
Adjustments to S Pass Levy Rates S Pass Basic/Tier 1 levy: SGD 550 per month. Increased to SGD 650 per month. September 1, 2025
